Bangkok Trip from 30 Jul to 3 Aug 2009!

29 Jul:
Barely slept as went to the gym and reached home at nearly 11pm. Then packed my luggage, do transport claims and had to clear some work first.

30 Jul - Thurs:
Set off to the airport at 445am. Flight was at 630am. Zzz....

Reached BKK at about close to 8am BKK time. It was a long walk and then wait at the custom and baggage claim. However, the taxi system there had been revamped (ever since the last time I went with other friends) and it was now very convenient and safe.

We could check into the hotel immediately instead of waiting till the afternoon! Yeah!
Washed up in the room and immediately set off to Indra Regent for lunch!! Enroute we went to Pratunum Centre for awhile and I saw some pink hard case luggages that I thought would be good to buy. Did some research on the price then went off to Indra Regent. The first 'food' was my favourite ice cream there (dark chocolate this time!) and gyoza. Hubby also ate the rice from the gyoza stall.

Shopped for a little while more after that at Indra Regent and gathered more 'research' for the hard case luggage. Set off to Platinum Mall and on the way passed by a new wholesale centre just like City Complex. Decided to shop there first and then at City Complex.

After that went to Platinum Mall! Ate seafood tum yum noodle at the food court. So yummy! Then I shopped alone while hubby went for foot massage. I managed to cover the first, second and third floor. But some of the shops at the second floor had closed. That was when I realised that the shops at the lower floors closed earlier then those at the upper floors! After that we went to Isetan to get lingerie for myself, Candy and Mrs Tu. Wanted to go to Big C for dinner/supper, but the food stall was already closed!

So we walked back to the hotel enroute the pasar malam outside Erawan Bangkok and Pratunum Centre. Shopped for awhile then proceeded to walk back to hotel. Ate at this Thai restuarant owned by an Indian owner opposite the Indra Regent. Returned to the hotel then hubby went for body massage while I stayed at the hotel room to pack! Too tired and lazy to go out!

31 Jul - Fri:

Woke up at 830am BKK time and was down for breakfast by 930am. Hubby wanted to go to Sampeng - an area which mainly sold wholesale stuff. Of course they sell non-wholesale too! However, it was drizzling so we changed plans and went to shop at MBK, MBK extension and Siam Square. Among other things, I bought a set of school uniform at MBK extension from the auntie we patronised many years ago! Yup their school uniform could easily passed off as office wear! Cheap too! And I also had my mango king at Siam Square! Yummy!!! Returned to the hotel to unload our stuff and then set off to Suan Lum night bazzar. Yup! Finally bought my pink hard case luggage there!! I took the one on display because they did not have a new piece and I only like that particular model. Could have bought it at other store but did not because the owner of the shop was a very nice and honest man. Because we took the display piece with some stretches, he sold it to us at cost price. We knew because he showed us his invoice. Would certainly patronise him again in future. Ate at Suan Lum food court then we went back to hotel.

1 Aug - Sat:

Well well!! It's saturday! So of course must go to Chatuchak!! Woke up at the same time, ate breakfast and off we went till the evening! Before we set off we went to change more money because hubby scared not enough money. And he did not like the feeling of having to be prudent for fear of insufficient cash! First stop was the sorbet-yogurt-like ice cream store. Finally got to eat it as did not managed to eat it the previous 2 times when I came last year!! In the evening, we returned to the hotel first to unload our stuff then went to Nana Plaza. Nothing much there and the food there were all Indian food. So we decided to head back to our hotel area. Shopped at the Pasar Malam outside Pratunum Centre and Erawan Bangkok again then proceeded back to the hotel. Ate at one of the open air restuarant at the lane that led to our hotel. Went back to the hotel to unload our stuff then went for Thai traditional body massage!

2ng Aug - Sunday

Woke up at the same time, had breakfast then went to Sampeng. After that returned to Platinum Mall to shop. Ate kiwi and strawberry crepe and mango sticky rice at the food court!! Returned to hotel to unload then went to Patpong. Ate dinner at a Thai restuarant. We had a couple's meal which consisted of chicken fried rice, seafood tom yum soup and free flow of soft drinks. I also had a blended mango yogurt and it was yummy!

After that I did my express pedicure!!! I must say that the lady who served me had impressive skills and excellent professionalism!! The shop closed at 1am BKK time and they still served me although I went in slightly after 12am. By the time she was done with my feet, it was already 115am and she even asked whether I wanted to do my finger nails!! I really wanted to but I was darn tired and also did not want hubby to wait too long. So....只好忍痛说不要!! I am not kidding when I said her skills were impressive! My toe nails we so small and she still could paint nail art on every one of it!! I asked her 'my nails so small you sure you can paint the nail art?' She confidently said 'yes mdm'. I asked her again while she was preparing the stuff, thinking that maybe she did not understand my question and again she confidently said 'yes mdm'. From the excellent job and the way she talked she was a very 细心 person! I shall patronise her again the next time I returned to BKK!! This time I shall do BOTH manicure and pedicure!!! The shops in Singapore would most probably say they could not do it and suggest using stickers instead!!

Returned to the hotel and we started to pack and weigh our stuff on the weighing machine!! 死了!! 准准 7kg for both of our hand luggages. My checkin luggage (yes! the new pink hard case one!) weigh 13 kg while hubby's weigh 19kg! Opps!! Of course he had my 24 inch old luggage (the one I brought to BKK) in his 28 inch one!! Hubby said if they wanted to tax 就让他们 tax 咯!!

3 Aug - Mon:

Woke up at the same time, had breakfast then proceeded to checkout. Shopped awhile at Pratunam, went over to Baiyoke area, walked walked walked and got lost, ended up at First Hotel. Rested awhile at the hotel lobby. We thought we would check out the hotel as it was one of the hotels that we considered before. Verdict: location was not great.

Proceeded to Platinum Mall for last minute shopping! I wanted to buy a dress that I saw the other day but did not buy. Ate yummy waffle with ice cream and bread at the basement when we reached. Then hubby waited for me at the ground floor because he said he was tired. I did not manage to find the dress and another one which I suddenly remembered when I saw a lady wore it. Could not find both dresses but managed to get a black office pom pom skirt! Nice! After I left the Mall I was thinking that I should have bought the white one as well!! Too late because we were already on the way to Big C to eat. The tim sum shop was gone, replaced by an over-the-counter type tim sum stall that did not have much things. The siew mai was also the most miserable I ever ate. Luckily the roast meat rice saved the day! Then it was back to the hotel to head to the airport!! Ate Burger King at the airport before boarding. That was when I realised that it was so expensive!! A chicken sandwiche set cost 250 baht!! That was more than S$10!! Very expensive!!

I thought I already adopted a see-like-buy attitude. But as usual I had my 遗憾s of the trip:

- 2 dresses
--> a long sleeve white dress which the shop owner refused to give discount. Did not manage to find the shop on the last day. Strange....
--> a singlet top with colourful layered pom pom bottom dress, which I did not think was nice when I saw it. But I changed my mind when I saw a lady wearing it. Could not find it anymore when I wanted to buy it.

- 2 unique cut tops at Chatuchak
--> very expensive lor. 460 baht and 560 baht. Sigh, I should have just bought it! Never seen anything like that before in Singapore!!

- white layered pom pom skirt. I only bought the black one.

- manicure with nail arts!!

- a 'simple woman' logo boxed tee-shirt. Hubby bought for his friend and I chose this design for him. I should have bought 1 too!!!

- naval ring! A big bright red button gem stone. Expensive at 450 baht!! I suspected it was not stainless steel. But I really like leh... >.<

Photos to be up later!!
