Genting

My hubby and I went to Genting Highlands from 27/09/07 to 29/09/07. Actually we had wanted to go in August but plan was cancelled because I had to attend a symposium in KL then.

I had been to Genting a few times. Genting is pronounced as 'ger -en-ting' and not 'gent-ting' as some of us would pronouce it :)

The coach journey took 6.5 hours; in between there was a 30 minutes stop at 'Yong Peng' for food and toilet break. The coach was pretty comfortable, the seats were big. However, I would not consider the leg space as spacious, especially if the person sitting in front lower their seat to a lying position.

By the way, we booked our package from Five Star Tours. We paid $82 each for the 2 nights accomodation, 2-way coach and 1 breakfast at the Resort Hotel or Hotel First World.

We had mee rebus and mee soto at 'Yong Peng'. Each plate of mee cost RM$5. I thought it was quite steep considering the place was old and the standard of the food was nowhere comparable to any foodcourts. The toilets, not to mention, were horrible!! Do refrain from going to the toilets if you could help it! I didn't on the way there; but had to on the return journey back to Singapore. A tip: To deal with such situation, I would use medicated oil to rub on my nose....Even then, I could still smell the stench...so you can imagine how H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E it was.

We stayed at the Hotel First World. We had to wait for 40 minutes before we could get our room. That was a pretty long wait; what with after a long coach ride. But I guess we should not expect alot since it was the cheapest hotel there.

This time we had the deluxe room. The last time we went we stayed at the standard room where there was nothing except the TV, bathroom, bed and hangers for clothes. The deluxe room had additional of hot pot, free 3-in-1 coffee mix, in-room safe deposit and a single bed plus a queen size bed.

We had early dinner (brunch=breakfast plus lunch; then what is lunch plus dinner huh??)..at the 'Kopi-Tiam' at the 3rd level of First World Plaza. I had Penang Assam Laksa...yummy..I had been craving for that since I returned from KL can!! It cost RM$8.50, quite reasonable yah..considering Genting is a touristy place.

After that we shopped around for awhile; I bought a tee from Soda (Cost: RM$22) and a pair of earring from Voir (RM$22.90) at the First World Plaza. Then....it was jackpot time! I am beginning to believe that I do not have 衡财。No luck at all, I lost about RM$40 if I did not remember wrongly.

The temperature was really chilly at night! I swear!! I was telling my hubby to off the aircon when he told me there was no aircon!! There was only a fan and it was switched off!! He had only opened the window a little for ventilation! Oh my!! My toes nearly freezed and dropped off even though I had it hidden under the blacket...not to mention that I was in my usual travel 'air-space' suit and we closed the window eventually. Haha! People who travelled with me before would know what is my 'air-space' suit :P

In fact, I later found out that the hotel lobbies, resturants, casinos, shops etc were not air-conditioned at all, it was all 'natural' air!! WOW!! Ok ok..I know I am very mountain tortise and alot of colder countries are also like that lah...

Woke up at 10am on the 2nd day! Tired can! We had breakfast at one of the restuarants at the ground level of First World Plaza. I had Penang Assam Laksa again! So yummy can!! (Cost: RM$8.50). No Penang Assam Laksa is as yummy as these authenthic ones in Malaysia!! The closest one that I could get in Singapore was at a small foodstall outside Parkway Parade (along the stretch of coffeeshop at the old Marine Parade Library and underpass)..and that was more than a decade ago..the stall had since ended business :(

My hubby had chicken rice and teh tarik. Cost: RM$12.50 and RM$3 respectively. Expensive right?!

In fact all the drinks at the stalls were very expensive - at RM$3 to RM$3.50! Hehe..but I found out that the vending machines were selling it at a much cheaper price!! Only RM$2!! Those who are planning to travel to Genting got to thank me for giving such good tips man!! Wa haha!!

After breakfast we decided to take a walk outside to enjoy the fresh air and cool breeze. Yes it was COLD! 18'C! I still felt cold although I wore a tube, a long sleeve top on top of the tube and a jacket on top of the long sleeve top and tube, jeans and covered-toes shoe :).. I wondered how I could survive in colder countries...

We saw the cable car during our walk and decided that we should go for it for the sake of experience and so that we can go below of Genting for some shopping. Before that, we went to shop around at other resorts. I bought a pair of crystal earrings at Bonita at I-forgot-which-Resort (Cost: RM$39.90). We then went to play jackpot and that was a bad decision. I lost like another RM$80!

Then it was cable car time!! The cable car was ahem...quite scary in the beginning. It was steep can! And there was no ground/sea at the bottom! Only greens and branches and greens and branches and more greens and more branches and those greens and branches were the tops of trees and bushes!! NO GROUNDS or SEA! Please see the photos and it would be self-explainatory lor! But it was not so scary after awhile lah! Got used to it already ma...haha..The cost: RM$10 both ways! Very cheap!

There was not much shopping below la...only a very small 'shopping centre'. There was a small 'animal kingdom' there. My hubby went in. I didn't want to because it smelt like those smelly toilets at 'Yong Peng'. Plus the lady at the sale counter was super irritating. Cost: RM$12.50. I was quite happy staring at the talking bird that they displayed outside. Yes I am not joking, the bird CAN TALK. But all of a sudden I forgot the things that it said.....

We had to queue for the cable car on the return trip up to Genting. We didn't feel like having dinner because we had some snacks earlier. I bought my durian cake then we went back to the room for a short rest. After that we went to redemn my Baskin Robins ice-cream! :) We redemned it using points from the Genting card. The card enabled you to accumulate World Points (WP) and Genting Points (GP). I think you earn WP when you shop and eat; and GP when you gamble at the casino. You can then redemn WP for shopping and food; and redemn GP for room bookings and things like shows and movies. Something like that...my hubby was in-charge of this so I can't be bothered with all that stuff...haha

After that we went to the casino again! This time luck came rolling in!! I managed to recoup my loses from just 1 game!! And I think I won some money too! Unfortunately I think I lost almost the amount that I won the next day :(
That's why I said I don't have any 衡财!!Overall I either won RM$17 or lost something like RM$53..I don't know because I think I miscalculated something along the way...haha

Oh forgot to mention that we had some tung shui..hot longan with sea coconut..very nice!! It was at one of those stalls at the ground level of First World Plaza again. Cost: RM$8 with tax and service charge.

3rd day: we chose to have breakfast at the Resort Hotel. I thought the breakfast at the Resort Hotel looked more posh than the one at Hotel First World :P. Well, the food was edible lah...I found the bee hoon, roti-chani, samosa, curry chicken (but the chicken wing that I aimed kena taken by an auntie before me :(...) and sambal ikan-bilis quite nice...

We didn't have much time left after breakfast. We went up to the room and rested for awhile then checked-out at 11.30am. We left our bags at the concierge then went shopping. I bought a pair of black heels at Vincci. Cost: RM$39 after 20% discount. Very cheap!!!!

We then went to the casino...no need to say la..I lost money..refer to above paragraph..

Our return coach was at 2.30pm. This time we had 2 stops. One was soon after we reached the 'basement' of Genting, at some old shops selling local food products. Another time was at where else but 'Yong Peng' again..The coach took us to Lavander MRT station..reached at 9.3opm...

Actually the prices for local food products were cheaper at Genting as compared to the old stall that the coach driver took us or at 'Yong Peng'. Of course the cheapest would be at the shopping centre which we went to on the 2nd day by cable car. I would recommend to buy the local food products at Genting itself to save trouble :)

End of my story...have no idea how come I can blah and blah so much....Photos to come later....:)

Back in SG again.. :(

Came back from Genting last night...shall blog about that later...

The lift robber....

Cannot tahan those people who came later but went right in front of all others to wait for the lift. Somemore can plant themselves right in the middle to obstruct people from coming out!!! Wah!!! Stupid or what?? Don't understand the virtue of queuing and allowing others to come out of the lift first is it?! Duh!!!

Anyway, my case D** H** was granted early discharge :)..happy for him but felt abit of 舍不得。。。he was with me for 22 months leh!!...haha...can sense that he also felt abit of 舍不得...heehee...but good for him and hope he would complete the remaining 1.5 years of his diploma course smoothly.

Yeah going Genting tomorrow!!!

BLOOD!!!!!!!

I went to the clinic for a blood test!!! The first time in my entire 30 years of life can!!!

Haha..had planned to do the test for Hep A and B someday..but didn't intend for it to be today...impromptu decided to do it since we passed by the clinic and had time...

Heehee...it's not as painful as I thought it would be la...in fact not the least painful at all...just an ant bite... :P The doctor even commended (not commented ok!) that I am not a difficult patient to draw blood from...wa haha....:D

I felt some ache on the arm after that..but I think the ache came from typing too many sms-es and playing games on my mobile while waiting for the doctor..haha...

Am I crazy??!!

Don't know whether I am crazy or what..but I can spend hours reading these kindda sites...

HAPPIE!!!!!!!

Yeah yeah yeah!! I am going to Genting from 27 Sep to 29 Sep!!

Completed 3 review reports today *sense of accomplishment* :) But as usual..that person having asked me to rush it out by today said 'Oh I won't have time to vet it today..I'll do it tomorrow....'

Anyways....went to Subtle Senses in the evening...hmmm..I took bus there ok!! *another sense of accomplishment haha!* Wa..the 'scolding' really worked...nobody 'trapped' me after the session to try to sell me things!! Woo Hoo...I was like abit lost in the room when after so long nobody came...so I just reckoned that I can leave without having to sit through their pesterings!!

Oh..the masseue did slimming on my tummy and thigh...she used this machine that is like a flesh eater can!! It was like trying to suck out all my flesh..or should I say fats....PAIN!!..I was wondering if my intestines would get tangled up inside of me...and my tummy is now abit blue black lor....

I am trying to look for this pair of shoe...apparantly it can be found at e-bay...but I've tried to search for it there....without success...:(

Oh yes!!! Kooshi have new stocks now!!..and they are so nice can!!!! I like 8 out of 9 of their new pieces!!!

Tired Saturday

Reached home at nearly 2am after meeting with the girls. Had to wake up at 8am and returned to the same place -- Swissotel The Stamford for an office event. Tired..

To make things worse, everything was so not planned for the ushering part! Had to go reckee with Rosy and Ken and then decide where we needed to station people and who to use. Gosh wondered what would Rosy have done if Ken and I had reported as instructed at 1230pm instead of earlier at 9.30am.

Then had to brief the ushers and send them down to the respective stations; afterwhich I also had to station at my station -- Lift Lobby A near the concierge. Looked so stupid with the flash card. So many people can!! After that got to rush back to the Ballroom for the another part of my duty! Before that got to ensure that the 2 busiest stations were taken care of by another 2 ushers who did not have Ballroom duties. Mad can! Had to walk here and there and call here and there! Best..one usher went missing because she went in seach of her bag and some others literally stood glued on the floor..I mean I would have expected them to move around abit or at least turn their flash cards towards the people if they were walking towards you....hmm..how senseless can some adults be...

Before I knew it the event came to an end. Think I was too engrossed in my duties and ensuring that others do theirs that I really had no idea what went on on stage. Didn't even have the mood to watch the performances.....

My leg was aching so badly after the whole event....and Kat would definately be 100 times more tired lor....and we were still expected to continue putting on a big smile and all that.....speechless..and of course smile-less...

Decided to do something happier after the event! Went to Jean Yip and highlighted my hair red!! Was so tempted to highlight it blonde or ash grey..or having the highlights more prominent at the front sides...Anyway it cost $98! Gosh I must not spend anymore money for the next 1 week and another month after Phuket....

I am every salespersons good friend

Bought skin care products from The Face Shop again on Friday! Actually went there with the intention of buying my regular 'white jewel' exofliating peel. Then the salesgirl introduced this 'Su Hyang Snow' recharging mask. It has a very nice and refreshing smell, ginseng extract and Nano Gold. Don't really know what is Nano Gold but --> http://www.lexonnanotech.com/essence.html might be able to give some insight. Haha...

Went to Subtle Senses. They tried some hard-selling again. I got so frustrated and told the Beauty Consultant off. Haha...hopefully they would get off my back from now on.

Met up with Wendy, Choo and Grace Yim after Subtle Senses. Initally wanted to go to The Loof but we had to wait. Decided to look for other places and finally settled down at The Lobby Lounge at Swissotel The Stamford.

Twins or no twins?

Went back earlier on Thursday and played with the twins. Haha..the mei mei can't stop talking. I don't think she can even stop talking and sit still for 1 minute!

Their helper asked if I could help explain to her the instructions given by their teacher for kite making - their holiday assignment..yes! nursery have holidays assignments too! Faint right?! Luckily she did not ask me to help design or draw on the kite....Haha....because I can't do arts for nuts....

Looking at the twins, it set me thinking on the challenges of raising twins:
1. Parents have to do 2 sets of homework at a time! Yes DO - for example: the kite; definately the parents would be the ones who had to do it in the end...haha
2. It would definately be more expensive to raise twins than 2 children who are not twins -- Parents have to buy 2 sets of everything from clothes, toys etc --> cannot use hand me downs
3. Double the noise level at home

However, the mummy only needed to go through pregnancy and labour pains once and 'ta-dah'...2 babies!! Haha...Moreover, there would not be any age gaps and the twins have each other as play buddies.

If I have a choice, I would rather have twins - 1 boy and 1 girl. Haha..the best of both worlds....!!

Random bimbotic stuff again

Kooshi's on sale...haha..combined buys with the girlies..*excited*

Drank Brands' forgot what-berries essense in the morning...rich in Vitamin C and good for anti-ageing. Pressie from Choo!! So sweetzzzzzzz..........:)

Didn't manage to get the double-happiness necklace because it was sold out...sadzzz --> http://www.thesisterscompany.blogspot.com/

Left office early to go to DBS to close my FD account because it had matured. DBS should seriously do something about the llloooonnnnggg waiting time...haha..if not for the fact that the interest can allow me to buy a LV bag..my blood would have reached boiling point..UOB was much better..no waiting time at all!!

Bought Lisa Oso's new album...hmmm I could see many raised eyebrows..ME listening to Lisa Oso?! Unbelievable hor?? Haha..wanted to buy Diana Krall's album too...but decided against it because I need to save money to buy my LV bag!! I hope to get my LV bag latest by mid'08; after I can convince myself to part with the money!!!! Wa haha!!

Hmmm..I had been diligently using my skin care products this week!! Haha...I swear that the sesame mask smelt horrible but since it was the best seller in both Singapore and KL and also since the salesgirls from both Countries sweared by it's good effects.....then no harm trying right?!!

Actually I have a few 'intellectual' topics to write on..but that's too taxing at such an hour...brain not working already...shall do it on weekends instead :)

Oh yes..I added 'My Wishlist' --> column on the right :)

Dog poo and feather duster in the morning....

I nearly stepped on dog poo at the staircase at my house earlier...don't know why people can be so inconsiderate and lacking in civil mindedness..don't even bother to clean up after their dogs!! Ay Mdm Wendy Yeo if you are reading this...you better be a considerate dog owner or else better train your Bling Bling (or is it Blink Blink) well to poo and pee at the right place hor!!

Saw a feather duster lying in the middle of the expressway on my way to office...

Hmm...dog poo and feather duster..

Realised that my blog has become somewhat bimbotic, talking about senseless things and shopping...hmm..will try to post something intellectual later....

Satisfying my fetish...and settling my bill...

Decided impromtu to go shopping. Went to Far East Plaza because I wanted to buy the crystal earrings that I didn't buy the other day!! But.......but....but......it's sold out!!!!!! Argh!!! So upset!!!! Then went to Topshop at Wisma and also didn't manage to find the ring that I saw at KL!!

Bought a gold necklace with my initial 'M' and a chunky bronze bangle with inscribed flowers at Far East Plaza. Hmm..cost $50 in total. Must stop all the festishes soon else I would go bankrupt..

Needed to pay my M1 Citibank bill at the cash deposit machine. There was some problem with my credit card so I had to ascertain what was the problem first before I made payment for last month's bill. After having done so, I was advised to pay the bill by today so I would not incur late charges. The hotline staff suggested that I make payment via the cash deposit machine as that was the fastest way.

So since I was going to Far East Plaza, the staff advised me to go to Paragon as there was a cash deposit machine there...but...but...but...I walked all the way there from Wisma and I can't find any machine!! Called the darn hotline and I stood there for at least 15 minutes like a dumbo waiting for someone to pick up the call!! Decided to walk down towards Heeren to see if there were other machines. Reached Heeren and someone decided to pick up the call....and said that they really had one machine at Paragon. I told the person that I would make payment only tomorrow if I can't find it this time and they jolly well waived the late charges for me. Also gave feedback that they should have more staff manning the hotlines! I mean I made so many calls and each time I had to wait for more than 5 minutes and still nobody picked up the call!! Poor gal..I think she was quite traumatised by me...and she said she would note down that 'customer was unable to find the cash deposit machine' and on account of that they would waive the late charges..wa haha...In the end, I walked all the way back again to Paragon but..but..but..still could not find that darn machine!!

I decided to call it a day. I would pay via the AXS machine tomorrow. Luckily I remembered Elaine telling me that it was easier to get taxis behind Heeren, near the Balcony. But..but..but still had to wait 15 minutes can!!

HELP!!!!!!!!!

I am feeling so god damn bored at work!!!! So many things to do yet don't feel like doing it..and so many people not here to entertain me today!!!!

My old blog

Was just reading through my old blog..haha..was laughing at some of the entires...

Indeed blogs and diaries are good ways to keep memories...therefore, I strongly encourage everyone to keep blogs or diaries!!

Fetish-es

My current fetish-es:
1. Accessories: especially gold ones; crystals I also like!
2. Lingerie --> http://www.kooshi.com/
3. Skin care products from The Face Shop and The Skin Food!

Suddenly a tinge of sadness....

Watched 'If There're Seasons 'with Chin Choo, Yimei, Kat, Marcus and Siew Ling last night. Will talk about the play later.

After the play, got a ride from Kat. Was in the car when Yimei sms-ed us and thanked us for the evening and all that....made me wanna cry can...sigh...and dunno why suddenly I missed Alvin because I would not be able to see him for the next 10 days as he is on leave..Hmm..won't be wishy washy here because I know Yimei would read this..haha..

SIGH...more and more people are gone now...really had to come to terms with this...wonder who would be the next to leave..

Ok let's talk about 'If There're Seasons' --> Official Website. I like the play, brought back many good memories of the xin yao songs. I like the main male cast and the actress who played 'Rose'. Felt that she can sing well and had good body language and stage presence. Don't really like the actress who played 'Xiao Jing' though. The story talks about love, all kinds of love, love without boundaries - kinship, love between opposite sex, same sex, love for the Country, love for friends. This is the first time I watched a Mandarin play. Overall I felt that it's a watchable piece.
