55 is the number

Chose our wedding photos on wednesday. There was 201 photos all together and we had to choose 50.

That was surprising alot and most of them turned out pretty well. But only had a few shots at the night scene at Marina Barrage, with the flyer as the background. Those did not turn out too well.

Also chose only a few at sentosa sun-set because there were other nicer photos!

After 1st round of elimination: we were left with 74 photos
After 2nd round of elimination: we were left with 60 photos
After 3rd round of elimination: we were left with 57 photos
After 4th round of elimination: we were left with 55 photos..

Gosh, really could not cut down anymore. So we decided to go with the additional 5 photos, at a price of $250. Managed to bargain for another 8R framed table-top!

Would be returning 1 month later to see the edited versions of the photos!

New hair-do!

Cut my hair on tuesday. Decided to cut a full fringe....haven't had full fringe since primary school!!

Don't I look like an over-aged japanese doll?! wahahahha...

To occupy my thoughts

Cooked over the weekend to occupy my thoughts and time...not that I have alot of time la, got work to do, but where on earth got mood to do work siah???

Black pepper steak with mushroom sauce.
Sweet and sour seafood salad.

Seafood Tom Yum soup
Luncheon meat
Egg with chinese sausage
Egg with frank sausage
Luncheon with fries and baked beans

Anyway I am amazed by the amount of oil that luncheon meat produced. I never even add 1 drop of oil lor, and my frying pan got oil after frying it....free oil...

Got it!!

Yup received email notification from HR at 5pm today. Finally got my promotion!

Was really down in the dumps since Friday evening after I got to know that somebody in the office had already received a letter of promotion.

Got more down in the dumps over the weekend as I began to try to think what should be my next move if I realy did not get it again this year.

I was very determined to just quit and move on, but as I really think further, things would not be easy.

- assuming my plan to start a family materialise, how could I get a new job and a few months later tell them 'bye, I am going for my maternity leave'....?!
- getting a new job meant no promotion for at least another 2 to 3 years...if I stayed on, the possibility would definately be higher in 2011....
- and this was all assuming that I could get a new job.

- but assuming that I stayed on and plan to start a family materialise, would that affect my chances also in 2011??
- more and more new people would come in, more scholars also, would chances get slimmer and slimmer??
- I also started to question myself, if there was something wrong with me. If my performace had been good (well...bosses have been telling me good this good that, and I also had been getting the performance bonuses), then what the hell went wrong?? The only thing I could think of was that my CEP is damn low......and this really hit badly and caused great damage to the self-esteem...

Then, I began to marvel at my own stupidity, for not sending out even 1 application for a new job over the past year. I should have done it straight after I failed to get it last year! Big dumb ass I was...to land myself in this pool of deep shit.

Getting it is very important, as it not only marked a new milestone, but a 'passport' - which meant I have more control on what steps to take next with more options and less considerations to worry about on each options.

Eg:
- I can continue with my family plans, go for maternity, NPL, then come back.
- I can even opt to move on to another job after that.
- Even if I quit, then return to the Public Sector again, I am at a higher grade.

Most importantly, it is a milestone, a recognition, a reward, a boost on the self-esteem.

Ah..very difficult to explain to people who are not in my position....well...everything is well again :)

** I found out that Prosecuting Officer for the MOM does not require a law discipline graduate!!! So interesting!! A good place to move to!!

Bali - Day 2, 7 Mar

Came down for breakfast at 930am. Had booked a full day tour upon recommendation from a colleague who came few weeks ago. Wanted to call the tour guide to check something so asked the hotel staff on how we could call. Could not use my mobile as I had no reception! This would be another story another time! And I'm so going to complain to M1 when I'm back!!!

What impressed me was that they were all so friendly. The same guy who picked us from the airport volunteered to lend us his mobile phone as he said it would be very expensive to use the hotel line. Such good service and kind gesture! We accepted his kindness but of course we wanted to pay him back the money which he declined. Anyway the guide did not on his phone so we could not get through.

Exploring of Kuta area began after breakfast. Asked 2 tour organizers for mountain sunrise trekking but could not agree on the price. So shopped around - pasar malam style lanes, discovery mall which is a small shopping mall directly opposite Kuta Beach, Sogo, tried local dessert which tasted close to chendol at Sogo, more pasar malam style lanes, Matahari Shopping Centre where there was a supermarket and A&W, booked our mountain trekking tour outside Matahari, rested at A&W and rootbeer float still tasted as good as ever, dropped by Hard Rock Hotel and Cafe, another stretch of Kuta Beach which was more crowded and activities packed just opposite Hard Rock Hotel, foot reflexlogy on the way to Made's Warung (pronunced as Ma-day) for dinner, dinner at Made's Warung, then back to the hotel. Dinner was good. Ate Nasii cambur with gado gado and Nasi goreng with seafood.

Surfing wi-fi free at the hotel lobby with my iPhone now while hubby went for a body massage.

Tomorrow will be a whole day of sight seeing - barong dance, art village, batur montains, lake, valcano crater and lunch at Kintamani, coffee plantation, hot spring, rice padi, sunset at tanah lot and seafood dinner at jimbaran.

Oh and we managed to get a rather good deal for our mountain trekking. 900 000 ruppiah for 2 persons including trekking guide, breakfast at top of mountain, transport to and fro. We got our spa package at a discount for booking this trip. Original price of spa was USD 60 per person but we got it at half the price and with private transport too. So we'll be going mountain trekking on Tuesday morning at 2am then spa on Tuesday evening!!

Bali - Day 1, 6 Mar

Reached Vira Bali Hotel at around close to 10pm. Transfer to and from airport was arranged by the hotel so we were picked up once we touched down. Journey to hotel was also a short one and the hotel staff who picked us up could speak English and was very friendly.

Vira Bali hotel is not exactly those resorty hotel but I guess it's stayable. Had planned for a sight seeing trip so I guessed no point staying in a luxurious hotel when we aren't going to spend time in the hotel.

Checked in and walked around the area near the hotel for a short while then went back to the hotel to rest.

Lost for words.....

Location: now on bus 197

There is this couple sitting next to me now. China man and some local lady. Very sure they are not related as lady was telling man about her children and man was advising her on how to discipline her children.

The man had his hands all over the lady. Lady was dressed scantily but really really really no dress sense! Short and sleeveless top exposing fat tummy and armpit hair!!!

Actually I turned to look at her in the hope that she would sit properly as she was sitting cross legged with her feet crossing to the next seat, which means she was occupying 2 seats - 1 for her butt the other for her feet. But I guessed I was too horrified by her dressing, armpit hair, fat tummy and the man having his hands all over her, that well I just looked extremely horrified! The lady sitting opposite saw the look on my face and she also laughed!!

The man even started singing hokkien love song to her at one point!!!

Glad the lady had gone off the bus. Yes only the man left and he had bad breath!!!

You want bung beelart?!

Location where this conversation took place: This afternoon at bugis toastbox

me: 1 hei bee hiam soft bun and 1 peanut soft bun
auntie: you want 1 bung hei mee and 1 bung beelart?

Ok, I know hei mee means hei bee as she got that quite close to the correct pronounciation. But I was really thinking what the hell was bung beelart lor!!

So...
me: huh?!
She repeated: you want 1 bung hei mee and 1 bung peelart?

Haha....can die la! Bun hei bee and bun peanut!!! Luckily I am clever enough to understand it the second time! Wahaha!!

Anyway went to my beautician's place to do my manicure and pedicure! I love the manicure but could not do French for pedicure as my nails were too short. Anyway I liked the colour too!
