Almond and Coffee Biscotti!!

Going to bake this later!!! :D

Real pictures to be posted after I finished baking!!

Actually wanted to make snow skin durian mooncake today but realised that I needed alkaline water. So shall do it the weekend after I returned from Perth ba!! Would need another trip down to Poon Huat to buy alkaline water!

Fried Kway Teow

Yesterday's lunch :)

Lesson learnt: unlike bee hoon, there is no need to soak the kway teow first. Otherwise it will become too shoggy and break into bits easily when frying!

Excited to be a match-maker!!

I want to introduce a PTI to one of my colleagues!! So excited! I have the PTI's photo but shall not upload it here in case I get murdered!! Wahahah...just show to my colleague on Monday ba!!

Exciting!!

Good service!

Went to Isetan at Parkway yesterday with intention to stock up on my Clarins stuff. The salesgirl, upon noting that I am getting quite alot of stuff suggested that I wait for the private sale on the 17th Sep! She said they were not supposed to divulge this information but she felt that she wanted to let me know since I am a regular customer and I am buying so many stuff :))

Daiso!

Daiso has a new branch at Sengkang Rivervale Mall!! I think this shop has prettier and much more variety of stuff than the PS branch!!

Marcus' Birthday Cake!

Decided to bake the long ago decided chocolate peppermint slice instead of cake because the recipe I got from the internet 2 days ago looked strange. It said to bake the cake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour! Firstly my oven do not have such high temperature at 300 degrees and secondly won't the cake be burnt if I bake it at such high temperature for so long?!!

Actually decided to wake up early this morning at 7am to bake but got uneasy last night (or should I say even earlier this morning?!!) so woke up at 115am to bake. Baked, washed up all the utensils, wiped the floor and its 330am! Concussed.

Went to sleep then woke up again at 530am to check that the chocolate coating has set properly and then transferred it to the cake box. The crust got cracked abit as I transferred from the baking pan to the cardboard :(

Driving in Perth?

Everyone has been telling me how easy it is to drive in Perth, how the roads are safe and easy etc etc.

Now I am looking forward to driving in Perth! Wahahahhaa........

The Proposal!!

Watched The Proposal with Elaine last night at The Cathay.

I simply love Ryan Reynolds because he is so cute and handsome!! Wahahaha...

But there were reviews which stated that he was 'henpecked'. He where got henpecked?!! In fact I felt he was very 'man' to chase Sandra Bullock all the way back to office and propose to her!!

But I felt the ending was abit abrupt though. I thought it should have a happier ending like showing them having children, Ryan Reynolds being successful in his career and the family living happily and blissfully!!

Yummy Nasi Pedang!!

Met hubby for lunch at Rendezvous Hotel last wednesday for lunch as wanted to try out their beef rendang!!

It was yummy! :D

Stick on!!

Bought this fake polo ralph polo-tee at Bangkok. I like it because it has got a nice cutting. Wendy bought it during our last trip. I did not buy it then as I could not fit into it then!! Haha....

Bought a Winnie the Pooh stick on to cover the fake logo! Hee...and the stick on was really easy to use!! Ta-da!! A new shirt!!

Happy Birthday Hui Ning!!

Went to Hui Ning's 1st birthday party yesterday. The birthday cupcake was indeed yummy-licious!! No wonder so expensive! Haha!!

However, we did not have chance to play with Hui Ning before she 'KO-ed'. So only had a picture of the backside of her mummy carrying the number '1' balloon! Wahahahah....

Went to shop for a short while with Elaine and Candy at Tiong Bahru Plaza after that. Bought a tube top from Little Match Girl and a care bear tee-shirt! The tee-shirt was selling at 50% off for the second piece, so Candy and I bought one each. Cost: $13.50, abit steep still but much better than the New Urban Male strawberry shortcake one!! Wahahah.....

Of yes, I think Tiong Bahru Plaza seriously needs to be revamped. Boring siah....十年不变。It's been ages since I last went there and it is still the same.....>.<

Of course took a photo with baby Sage aka Ms Steven Tan Tay Jr or Ms Square Face Steven Tan Tay Jr. Wahaha....cannot take it! Resemble Steven sooooooooo much!!

Internet savvy kids!!!

Was at my hubby's home 2 weekends ago to play with the niece and nephew - Iris and Isaac.

Was browsing through my facebook before dinner and Isaac walked over to see what I was doing after his bath.

He suddenly exclaimed: 'oh auntie Melissa, I have facebook too!!!!'. Gosh he is only 6 years old leh. Then we logged into his facebook account and he was adding on applications, browsing through his friends pages and playing games with so much ease and no difficulties on his own!! Even my hubby don't know how to use some of the applications!! (shame shame >.<)

Needless to say, his 9 year old sister also has an account lor! :D

Clearer pictures!

1 side is lined with 33 small diamonds on rose gold. The other side just rose gold. The middle part is shiny white gold. The inner side, not shown here, is rose gold.

I love my ring! :D

However there is a glitch though. They engraved the wrong date so I would have to bring it back for them to re-do the engraving. They had better not charge me for it or remove too much gold or I might ask for compensation or whatever. See what they explain when I bring it back.

Good thing is that they just asked me to bring it back without any questions asked. If not that would be a big minus off their service standard.

Blast!!

Combat class was a blast! Edwin conducted the 2nd half of the class. Sweat like never sweat before!!

And I will never believe Joel when he asked to load up again. Almost died during the tricep track. >.<|||

1 weird gal.....

Met a really weird gal at The Cathay on Monday. I think she has insecurity problem la.

See, people would usually stand in a stagger position to have more space to move around. However, she would follow me close wherever I stand lor. I moved to the front she followed, move to the back she also followed. Alamak...pek chek throughout the whole combat class.

The worse was during cool down track!!! We had to use the mat, and due to the lack of space I purposely put my mat vertically towards the front of the studio, so that SHE could have more space. I had a small gap of space in front of me because we stagger remember?!

BUT she followed me when she saw that I placed my mat vertically!! Can die or not??!! Result? The gal in front of her got no space lor....

Coma and die.

Yeahhhhh!!!!

My ring is ready for collection!!!! Yeah yeah yeah times infinity!!!

Going to collect it on Saturday!! I would have rushed down today to collect it if not because hubby wanted to pay using his credit card!! He's hard up for bonus points la!! Wahahahahah!!!

Stay at home mum

Had SAR review earlier.

G asked me where do I see myself in 3 year's time and I told her 'at home lor, if the economy becomes better, finances permits and 天时地利人和'.

Anyway my response above was to tell them that I would leave if I don't get promoted next year. G is smart and she asked me to elaborate and be more open. Then she asked me what she could do to make me stay.

Anyway she said they would put me up again this year. Let's see how then. The result would be known in Apr 2010 then it's time to make a decision.

祸不单行。。。

It was 13th Aug, but not a Friday.

First, hubby sms-ed me during lunch to say that he got into an accident in the morning. Got some cuts on the limbs but bike needed to be sent for repair.

Second, my dad called close to 9pm saying that he was at SGH/A&E.
Background story:
He had been complaining of breathlessness so I told him to inform the doctor when he went to the Urology Department for checkup on his pancreas. So the doctor gave him a referral letter to the polyclinic then the polyclinic doctor referred him to the A&E.

I reached A&E around 10 plus. Waited till 330am to be registered for admission. Bloody hell. They needed 5.5 hours to register 12 patients before my dad!! I was still waiting at the registration area even after my dad had gotten a ward! I really could not understand the reason behind the long waiting time. Can somebody enlighten me please?!

My dad could be discharged the next day after the doctor saw him in the morning. He called me at 1030am to tell that. I reached SGH at 1230pm, and again had to wait till 2pm for the doctor to discharge him!! Then we went to the pharmacy to collect his medicine and we had to wait another 40 minutes!!!! There were only 2 other patients before us!! 40 minutes!!!!!!!!!! How efficient!!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.............vomit blood!
I think polyclinics maybe more efficient then them!

Preparation for Perth!

The girls came over to 'taunt night' on saturday so that we can search for information on Perth - where to go, hotels, car rental etc etc.

We were on the computer until 5 plus in the morning! Jac went to sleep first as she had to be up early to attend Church.

Elaine then continued the search and read up on reviews on sunday. 真是服了她, can glue herself in front of the screen for so long. Won't get headaches meh?!

Portugese Custard Tart 2!

Baked again earlier. Crusts are not so hard this time, though they could still be better. I added additional flour again, because I have no patience to add the water bit by bit hence still ended up adding slightly more water! Haha!!

It's this wallet's fault!!

Went shopping with Faith last night as I wanted to check out this wallet. We went to the Coach boutique at Taka. Ended up buying a bag and a pair of shoe!! Haha...but both were excellent buys la!! The bag was on 50% percent discount and it's the same range as the mini wallet that Marcus brought back from US!! The shoe was $500 plus and it was selling at $120!!! Woooo....who can resist that?!!

Caramel Pancake

The packet of caramel pancake which Rodziah gave me had disappeared from my table! Could not find it when I returned to office yesterday.

Out of 12 pieces I only ate 2...then all gone liao....boo hoo.....
There were at least 4 pieces left when I left office last friday..boo hoo...nehmind got other people to share my calories!! Wahahah...

Aaron is crazy!!

He came to me earlier and said that the custard tart is nice and asked me to 'bake more bake more'.

He is the first person who did not 'complain' that the crust was too hard lor. Even I think the crust cannot make it. Either he is insane or he must be super hungry when he ate it!!

Portugese Custard Tart!

Just baked these!! The custard filling is nice but the crust is too hard and tasteless!!

I think I added too much flour because I added too much water in the first place and the dough was too watery to form into a soft dough!! But I followed the amount from the recipe leh!! Grrrrr!!

Nevermind shall do better next time!!

Still in the oven!!

The final products!!

The colour from this towel from Ikea will run everytime I use it after a bath. >.<|||

37. Clarinase for Dennis.
38. Bras for Candy and 杜太太!
39. And of course items for the house - 1 big clock with silver face from Platinum Mall. 1 small red and black rectaugular one from Patpong. Looks like designer stuff leh. READ

Footnote: I decided to number the items after publishing this entry and realised that it would be difficult to read such a long list. To my horror I realised that I really bought MANY things lor!!! >.<

Even neater now!!

Yup! Bought the $2 box from Daiso to pack all my chunky accessories! They are now no longer in small boxes!! Yeah!!

All in 1 box = 一眼看到完!!

Flexible to change!

Faith was supposed to go gyming with me on friday then we were supposed to go drinking with Elaine, Alvin Koh and Candy. She was on leave that day. However, she sms-ed me at about noon to say that her father was not well and had to go to the hospital and she would not be able to join us. So we had to make adjustment to our plans. Elaine, Candy and I then decided to watch a movie instead. Then Faith sms-ed again at around 5 plus saying that her father was alright and she had to take a breather and asked if we wanted to go drink with Alvin Koh and Gabriel.

We decided to stick to our plans of watching a movie since we were already closed to booking the tickets.

Watched UP at The Cathay. It was a nice show!! The little boy was SO cute and the storyline touching! GOOD!

Bangkok Trip from 30 Jul to 3 Aug 2009!

29 Jul:
Barely slept as went to the gym and reached home at nearly 11pm. Then packed my luggage, do transport claims and had to clear some work first.

30 Jul - Thurs:
Set off to the airport at 445am. Flight was at 630am. Zzz....

Reached BKK at about close to 8am BKK time. It was a long walk and then wait at the custom and baggage claim. However, the taxi system there had been revamped (ever since the last time I went with other friends) and it was now very convenient and safe.

We could check into the hotel immediately instead of waiting till the afternoon! Yeah!
Washed up in the room and immediately set off to Indra Regent for lunch!! Enroute we went to Pratunum Centre for awhile and I saw some pink hard case luggages that I thought would be good to buy. Did some research on the price then went off to Indra Regent. The first 'food' was my favourite ice cream there (dark chocolate this time!) and gyoza. Hubby also ate the rice from the gyoza stall.

Shopped for a little while more after that at Indra Regent and gathered more 'research' for the hard case luggage. Set off to Platinum Mall and on the way passed by a new wholesale centre just like City Complex. Decided to shop there first and then at City Complex.

After that went to Platinum Mall! Ate seafood tum yum noodle at the food court. So yummy! Then I shopped alone while hubby went for foot massage. I managed to cover the first, second and third floor. But some of the shops at the second floor had closed. That was when I realised that the shops at the lower floors closed earlier then those at the upper floors! After that we went to Isetan to get lingerie for myself, Candy and Mrs Tu. Wanted to go to Big C for dinner/supper, but the food stall was already closed!

So we walked back to the hotel enroute the pasar malam outside Erawan Bangkok and Pratunum Centre. Shopped for awhile then proceeded to walk back to hotel. Ate at this Thai restuarant owned by an Indian owner opposite the Indra Regent. Returned to the hotel then hubby went for body massage while I stayed at the hotel room to pack! Too tired and lazy to go out!

31 Jul - Fri:

Woke up at 830am BKK time and was down for breakfast by 930am. Hubby wanted to go to Sampeng - an area which mainly sold wholesale stuff. Of course they sell non-wholesale too! However, it was drizzling so we changed plans and went to shop at MBK, MBK extension and Siam Square. Among other things, I bought a set of school uniform at MBK extension from the auntie we patronised many years ago! Yup their school uniform could easily passed off as office wear! Cheap too! And I also had my mango king at Siam Square! Yummy!!! Returned to the hotel to unload our stuff and then set off to Suan Lum night bazzar. Yup! Finally bought my pink hard case luggage there!! I took the one on display because they did not have a new piece and I only like that particular model. Could have bought it at other store but did not because the owner of the shop was a very nice and honest man. Because we took the display piece with some stretches, he sold it to us at cost price. We knew because he showed us his invoice. Would certainly patronise him again in future. Ate at Suan Lum food court then we went back to hotel.

1 Aug - Sat:

Well well!! It's saturday! So of course must go to Chatuchak!! Woke up at the same time, ate breakfast and off we went till the evening! Before we set off we went to change more money because hubby scared not enough money. And he did not like the feeling of having to be prudent for fear of insufficient cash! First stop was the sorbet-yogurt-like ice cream store. Finally got to eat it as did not managed to eat it the previous 2 times when I came last year!! In the evening, we returned to the hotel first to unload our stuff then went to Nana Plaza. Nothing much there and the food there were all Indian food. So we decided to head back to our hotel area. Shopped at the Pasar Malam outside Pratunum Centre and Erawan Bangkok again then proceeded back to the hotel. Ate at one of the open air restuarant at the lane that led to our hotel. Went back to the hotel to unload our stuff then went for Thai traditional body massage!

2ng Aug - Sunday

Woke up at the same time, had breakfast then went to Sampeng. After that returned to Platinum Mall to shop. Ate kiwi and strawberry crepe and mango sticky rice at the food court!! Returned to hotel to unload then went to Patpong. Ate dinner at a Thai restuarant. We had a couple's meal which consisted of chicken fried rice, seafood tom yum soup and free flow of soft drinks. I also had a blended mango yogurt and it was yummy!

After that I did my express pedicure!!! I must say that the lady who served me had impressive skills and excellent professionalism!! The shop closed at 1am BKK time and they still served me although I went in slightly after 12am. By the time she was done with my feet, it was already 115am and she even asked whether I wanted to do my finger nails!! I really wanted to but I was darn tired and also did not want hubby to wait too long. So....只好忍痛说不要!! I am not kidding when I said her skills were impressive! My toe nails we so small and she still could paint nail art on every one of it!! I asked her 'my nails so small you sure you can paint the nail art?' She confidently said 'yes mdm'. I asked her again while she was preparing the stuff, thinking that maybe she did not understand my question and again she confidently said 'yes mdm'. From the excellent job and the way she talked she was a very 细心 person! I shall patronise her again the next time I returned to BKK!! This time I shall do BOTH manicure and pedicure!!! The shops in Singapore would most probably say they could not do it and suggest using stickers instead!!

Returned to the hotel and we started to pack and weigh our stuff on the weighing machine!! 死了!! 准准 7kg for both of our hand luggages. My checkin luggage (yes! the new pink hard case one!) weigh 13 kg while hubby's weigh 19kg! Opps!! Of course he had my 24 inch old luggage (the one I brought to BKK) in his 28 inch one!! Hubby said if they wanted to tax 就让他们 tax 咯!!

3 Aug - Mon:

Woke up at the same time, had breakfast then proceeded to checkout. Shopped awhile at Pratunam, went over to Baiyoke area, walked walked walked and got lost, ended up at First Hotel. Rested awhile at the hotel lobby. We thought we would check out the hotel as it was one of the hotels that we considered before. Verdict: location was not great.

Proceeded to Platinum Mall for last minute shopping! I wanted to buy a dress that I saw the other day but did not buy. Ate yummy waffle with ice cream and bread at the basement when we reached. Then hubby waited for me at the ground floor because he said he was tired. I did not manage to find the dress and another one which I suddenly remembered when I saw a lady wore it. Could not find both dresses but managed to get a black office pom pom skirt! Nice! After I left the Mall I was thinking that I should have bought the white one as well!! Too late because we were already on the way to Big C to eat. The tim sum shop was gone, replaced by an over-the-counter type tim sum stall that did not have much things. The siew mai was also the most miserable I ever ate. Luckily the roast meat rice saved the day! Then it was back to the hotel to head to the airport!! Ate Burger King at the airport before boarding. That was when I realised that it was so expensive!! A chicken sandwiche set cost 250 baht!! That was more than S$10!! Very expensive!!

I thought I already adopted a see-like-buy attitude. But as usual I had my 遗憾s of the trip:

- 2 dresses
--> a long sleeve white dress which the shop owner refused to give discount. Did not manage to find the shop on the last day. Strange....
--> a singlet top with colourful layered pom pom bottom dress, which I did not think was nice when I saw it. But I changed my mind when I saw a lady wearing it. Could not find it anymore when I wanted to buy it.

- 2 unique cut tops at Chatuchak
--> very expensive lor. 460 baht and 560 baht. Sigh, I should have just bought it! Never seen anything like that before in Singapore!!

- white layered pom pom skirt. I only bought the black one.

- manicure with nail arts!!

- a 'simple woman' logo boxed tee-shirt. Hubby bought for his friend and I chose this design for him. I should have bought 1 too!!!

- naval ring! A big bright red button gem stone. Expensive at 450 baht!! I suspected it was not stainless steel. But I really like leh... >.<

Photos to be up later!!

People

Paragon gym:

Last wednesday there was this lady who was practically banging the weights on the floor all the time because she was not pleased with an ang mo guy standing next to her. She was angry that the guy took up 'her space' as he had came in when the class was about to start. Honestly, why would people want to behave like that? Would the guy give a damn or maybe even know that she was directing her anger at him? In my opinion she was just being selfish for if she had adjusted her position just a little, she would have much more space for herself. But she simply refused to budge. Result: frustration and no space.

I was just standing behind her and the ang mo guy. Obviously the other lady next to me also witnessed this incident and I could see that she was also appalled at her behaviour. Well she really made my stomach churn in digust.

There are also people who simply cannot take facts smacked at their faces and they chose to get angry. Well if it made them happier then maybe they should just go ahead and continue to behave in such a manner. I am sure the people whom they are angry with do not loose sleep, a piece of flesh or a strand of hair.

I am SO tired!!

Went gym-ing after 5 straights days of gym-less activities.

5 days of shopping in Bangkok + 6 days of late nights + 5 days of gym-less exercise = Piece of dead meat in gym.

Really gave up at the last 4 counts of tricep pushups and kena scolded! Grrr.....I hate tricep pushups can....can't you do tracks with tricep pushups on another day?! Grr....nevermind I forgive you because you are my favourite instructor...wahahhahaha...and see you also very 可怜 got to rush off to Cathay for 2 more classes!!

Anyway had a cosy 30 minutes snooze by the poolside after class. So Shiok. If only I don't have to wake up to go back to office!
