Ministry of Food...

Happy HALLOWEEN!!

Kat and I met with Candy and Michelle at Bugis to celebrate Michelle's belated birthday. We had wanted to go to a Japanese Restuarant that served Japanese western food (never heard before hor?!) but the wait was too long. Candy and Michelle had already started queuing before Kat and I arrived. We gave up after we waited for another 15 minutes. I think the name of the restuarant was Moshi Mom or something...cannot remember...

We decided to settle down at Ministry of Food (not sure if it had anything in relation with MOS!! haha..). We were attracted by the deserts! Well the main course was so-so..edible but the desert were rather unique and nice!

Too bad we did not bring camera to take photos...

In summary, it was nice food and nice company! :)

Bye Bye to SH 4376

My dad's relief driver got into an accident. The cab got crashed in the front and the company had decided to scrap it; not because it was beyond repair but because it was a few months short of 5 years old. The company scrapped their cabs after 5 years.

Hmm...this morning was the last time I had a ride in it...

Walking is good!

I was waiting for Elaine to finish her business in AG Home. So I decided to take a walk around the neighbourhood.

I walked the short distance from AG Home which is at Telok Kurau Lorong K to the Siglap Park Connector (SPC). I walked all the way to Lorong M along the SPC. Then I cut across Lorong M and walked along the row of houses to the main road; then turn in again at Lorong K and walked along the row of houses to AG Home.

Elaine was not done yet so I decided to walk again; this time not forgetting to remove my jacket first. Again walked to the SPC and all the way to Lorong N this time. Elaine called as I was about to turn into Lorong N to walk along the row of houses to the main road. So no choice but to U-turn to walk back to Lorong K along the SPC.

All in all I think I walked for at least 45 minutes!! I felt so good man!! It would have been better if I had walking shoes and proper exercise clothes! I enjoyed observing people, looking at the beautiful scenary, people's houses and the surroundings. Somehow it was just so refreshing after the walk! I think we had been too bogged down with work that sometimes we forgot how the simple things in life could be so refreshing and happy as well.

Yes Jinny is right. Walking is very good! Not only is it good for physical health, it good for mental health too!!

Bored...

Elaine and I watched The Rendition after the office BBQ on Friday.

We were so bored can...because we can't find anyway to go...karaoke was full, shops were closed, too impromtu to arrange for drinking session, not to mention that we had to work on Saturday so cannot chiong too late anyway.

Ok back to The Rendition. Hmm..the movie was quite nice, it was about terrorism..abit confusing though, we were still trying to figure things out after the movie..heh..but I like!! At least there was still something to linger on after that ma!

After thought after the movie:
- it is scary how the enemy can be 'so near yet so far'...

Help me choose!!

Finally found this on ebay!!

Should I buy the red or white one?!

The Twins

Poor Jie Jie has been down with fever since Wednesday. Her temperature as of yesterday was 38.7 'C. The parents brought her to KKH on Saturday and doctor did a blood test to ascertain whether it was dengue. Luckily it wasn't but doctor said she had some viral infection. Hopes she gets well soon..poor lil' girl...

Saw Mei Mei yesterday and she was so lonely without her usual playmate. The parents put her at the Ah Ma's house in the day because they don't want her to catch the bug from Jie Jie. Just when her 2 cousins came to play with her, the parents came to fetch her home. Poor lil' girl...

Some information on Macau

Was surfing the net and gathering information from my Hong Kong friend about Macau. Below was what I gathered....

1. There are several areas at Macau --> Macau City, Taipa, Coloane and Cotai. More popular are Macau City and Taipa.

2. My friend strongly recommend Rio Hotel at Macau City. She says its new, just built 1.5 years ago. They also have a small in-house casino.
-> http://www.riomacau.com/

3. Also to visit these casinos if you are interested in casinos --> Sands, Lisboa, New Lisboa, Wynn, Crown, Venetian.

4. The famous and beautiful Venetian Macau Resort Hotel is at Taipa. She says Venetial Hotel is very beautiful but recently 'infested' by alot of people from mainland. So the atmosphere and ambience might not be as nice. Many of her friends who went felt that it was not worth what they paid. She suggests we stay at Rio Hotel then go Venetian Hotel to take a look.

5. The Airport is at Taipa. The ferry terminal is at Macau City.

6. Transportation is mainly by taxi as there is no MTR.

7. If shuttling between Hong Kong and Macau, the most convenient would be by ferry. There are 2 ferry terminals in Hong Kong. 1 is at Central (HK Island) and the other is at Tsim Tsah Tsui (Kowloon). My friend says tickets to/from Tsim Tsah Tsui is slightly cheaper. I made a check and indeed it is slightly cheaper.

I am craving for the organic yogurt from Novena Sqaure again....

I just had to comment on this!

Some mothers are really insane. Elaine and I were at NTUC Toa Payoh on Saturday and we saw this cute little girl who was barely 3 years old. She was still toddling around in her pampers lor! And guess what?! She had dyed hair! I was very sure it was dyed because I could see an inch of black hair at the roots; obviously new hair had grown out. We were like..what the hell was going through the mother's pea-sized brain?! Goodness! I would never dye my children's hair when they were still so young lor!

Looking forward!!

I am looking forward to getting my buys from e-bay! I bought a pair of earrings and an Anna Sui pouch. Now eagerly waiting for their arrival!

I am also looking forward to going to sentosa for sun tanning next week!! :))

Hari Raya Feasting!

Went to Shikin and Raha's house yesterday (Sunday) for Hari Raya visiting. They stayed miles apart at Bedok Reservoir and Bukit Panjang respectively and I had to brave the MRT, LRT, cabs and bus....haha

Nonetheless the food was yummy and hence made up for the long distance travel. However a little disappointed that Raha did not have the crackers that Shikin had. Heh! I was reminding myself not to eat so much at Shikin's house to save tummy space to continue to eat at Raha's house..heh..

Partying

Went to St James Power Station with Liling, Elaine and Siew Ying-Jie (haha!!) on Wednesday. Wa so long never party felt so good..although we didn't party till high enough. Well you see..Elaine and Siew Ying-Jie were the more demure kind...not those mad and high kind...wahaha...so we were REALLY toned lor... Nonetheless it was still very fun because I saw Siew Ying-Jie dance! And she could dance quite well lor!! I was very impressed!!

We went to the different rooms...let's do a review of each of them..

1. The Bellini Room: we went in through this room. Which means we had to get our free entry drink from this room. Well, I will not recommend this place. It was quite horrendous! They had performance (singers and dancers kind) and the dancers were...well....erm..I don't even know how to describe them. Well just don't go there la!!
--> Verdict: I would go only if I get paid at least $100 a minute.

2. The Gallery Bar: This room is at the 2nd level. It was much cosier and the drinks they served were good too; as in not too diluted. From where we were seated, we had a nice view of the Dragonfly room below. You could observe those men sitting at the bar at Dragonfly and see how those waitresses hooked them up to buy drinks :)...But it would get boring after awhile unless you were there with a big group of people.
--> Verdict: Worth a go for a chat with friends and some drinks to get the mood right before hitting the dance floor. Heh...

3. The Dragonfly: The mandarin/canto band came on not long after we sat down. Erm, the songs they sang were actually quite nice, if you don't minus points for the fact that 1 of the singers looked real ugly. He looked as if he had a failed botox treatment..haha. However, there was no dancing and the drinks there were REALLY diluted! We ordered cranberry vodka and all we could taste was the cranberry. And when the ice melted, we could not even taste the cranberry! We complained to the waiter who said there was nothing he could do. We saw him talking with 1 of the managers soon after and that manager did not even bother to come over to ask what happened, let alone wishful thinking that they would change another jug of drink for us.
--> Verdict: I didn't remember Dragonfly to be this way, because the last time I went the music and dancing were on longer than the live band. However, worth a go if you are not particular about your drinks and like mandarin/canto music instead of dancing.

4. Powerhouse: I like it there! It was about the only dancing place in the whole Power Station. The crowd was good and the music was good; not to mentioned big-muscled bouncers haha....However, it would not be suitable for people who preferred to just sit and drink because the place did not have many table tops and seats.
--> Verdict: Good for those who like to dance and get high. But don't go unless you get high enough to match the people and atmosphere :) haha...

Ghost or dreaming?!

I was really scared stiffed last night. The best thing is I don't know whether I was dreaming or I had really encountered something scary...

I was sleeping and then suddenly I woke up (or did I not I really don't know) and I can't move!! I can't move my hands, my body and I can't even open my mouth to scream! Later I could open my mouth but nothing came out! I tried very hard to move my hand as I thought that was the easiest and I could grab things if I could move my hand... okie first time I succeeded.

Then I remembered falling alseep again and the same thing happened again the second and third time!! After I managed to move the third time I reached out and grabbed my mobile phone, in case I needed it to call for help!! I remembered flipping my phone on and the light came on and then I went to sleep again.

This morning I woke up and my phone was at where I had placed it on my bed beside me!! NOW ISN'T THAT CREEPY?!

I think I had this 'attack' twice this year prior to yesterday's..and I had never encountered something like that before this year!! So scary....

This is real story hor...not story telling leh...

Battlefield!

I thought since I had nothing to do, I had better think of what to wear for Grace's wedding on Monday night...

I took out the white dress that I intended to wear and to my horror found that there were 3 brown spots on it! I guess my dress probably got 'infected' because I have not worn it for so long...yeah since my ROM in Jul 06!!

So..here comes Battlefield 1:
*Wet Tissue with Detergent VS Clorox Bleach Pen (CBP) VS Traditional Bleach (TB) that comes in those big green bottles*

As I had heard of how TB turns white clothes yellow..I was apprehensive about using TB on my expensive dress.

So first I decided to use wet tissue with detergent to try to get rid of the stains. Efforts were futile. I was afraid that I would get holes on my dress if I continue to rub on the same spot with the wet tissue.

So second came the CBP. There were 2 tips on the pen. One side with the small tip and the other with a brush on it. Both sides did not work. Not even when I added detergent with it. I AM STUCK!

Then I decided to use some TB...and VIOLA!! The stains came off!!

Conclusion: TB is good for spots stains; not for entire pieces of white clothes. If you need to bleach whole pieces of white clothes then use the more expensive Clorox meant for white clothes only.

Battlefield 2: *Wet tissue VS ugly toes prints*

Realised that the pair of heels that I wore for my ROM had ugly toe prints on it! You know those ugly toe prints on the surface...and it does not help when the shoe is made of satin-like material.

So I decided to use wet tissue to wipe the stains off. To my wildest horror the stains looked more obvious after that! Feeling demoralised I left it alone. I came back to take a look at it after I was done with my dress and to my surprise the stains were lighter!

Hmm...so conclusion: for satin-like material shoes, use wet tissue to clean the stains and leave the shoes to dry after that!

Killed by senseless protocol...

I am really fed up with those senseless paper work! Imagine having to write up 2 sets of similiar documents in order to complete a work procedure!! Argh!

Waste paper, waste time, waste effort, waste printer ink, waste electricity, waste energy, waste more time when angry and frustrated..

Ab-normal

I think there is seriously something wrong with me. What with falling asleep at odd hours in front of the computer and then waking up at unearthly hours as such and blogging......

I read the newspapers few days ago about an entry in Xiaxue's blog. She had written about her appearance in a talk show hosted by Dasmond Koh and Quan Yi Feng '有话就说3'。Apparantly she was not happy with the way she was questioned and had in her blog wrote rude comments about the regular guests who appeared in the show.

I do not exactly dislike Xiaxue and do read her blog at times. However, I cannot agree with certain words she used in her blog and certain opinions which just simply allow people to misinterprete her as being uncivilised, spoilt and rudely self-opinionated. By the way, I prefer to think that she is allowing people to misinterprete her; because I think she is certainly capable of being more civilised and less rude when commenting about people/ideas/issues that she cannot agree with. I have just left a comment on her blog. Let's see the aftermath of that in the next few days :)

Ok that's all. Peace out. Me gonna sleep. So tired can...

Not well...

I have been feeling rather out of sorts these few days. Kept feeling light headed and dizzy. Even when sitting, my eyes would be blur at times.

To counter that, I have been eating to ensure that I don't faint. Wonder if I have been eating too much :(

And bad news..I have to go to office on my own tomorrow..my dad's car is at the garage...sad..sian 1/2...

!!!

A friend showed me the budget list for his house. I am appalled by the amount of money needed to buy the stuff needed for a new house; on top of the renovation cost; and of course not to mention the cost of the house!! I am going to faint.....

And I also found out how extorbitant the interest rates are for HDB loan! 2.6% per month! So the higher the amount of loan, the higher the amount of interest incurred. And the the longer you take to repay the loan, the higher the amount of interest incurred. So try to make your own interest tabulation for loans of $100K, $200K or $300K etc; for each loan amount for different duration of loan repayment period of 10 years, 20 years or 30 years...and you will know what I mean.....I am totally speechless....

Now I am beginning to doubt my ability to finance a 5-room flat; before this I was quite confident that there would not be any problem...

Really, I really cannot believe that the interest could amount to $44, 360 for a loan of $100K with repayment period of 30 years. How is this going to encourage people to marry early, have more children or even have children early? How? For a start giving birth would cost a few thousand dollars, not to mention the cost of child rearing. How? I am not talking about how expensive the COEs are, how expensive the cars are, how expensive petrol is..I am talking about the basic necessity of starting a family; ie: a house!!

It is really amazing how others can cope; with house, with car etc etc. And I am talking about those who have been in the workforce for lesser amount of years or earning lesser or equivalent to what I am earning.

I am feeling depressed...

Pokie pokie...

Collected my blood test results last night. Well well I am not a Hep A and B carrier but neither do I carry anti-bodies that immunise me against the diseases. So no choice got to take the jab lor.... Decided to take it on the spot to save trouble. Not painful but had slight ache on the arm and slight pain on the spot of the jab for a few hours....got to take the next jab 1 month later...altogether got to take 3 jabs...

Court session for Fra*** went well yesterday. But ended up I had to be in Court from 9am to 7pm (very long can!!!) because JO wanted to do the VAST for all 3 cases before passing the sentence in open Court. Hoped the 3 of them learnt their lesson and behave from now on...

Took bus home after Court today...when alighting at my stop there was this old lady in front of me so we took quite a long time alighting..and know what?! As the old lady finally alighted fully...the door suddenly shut right in my face!! Luckily it's automatic door and it sprang open again upon hitting my shoulders...! @#$%^ the bus driver lor! So negligent can!!

Received a call from a lady from some financial company, saying that they are employing and asked if I am interested...mad or what..financial company....wa haha....never thought of working in that line before even in the wildest of dreams...
