First, don't know why I mis-read the recipe. Instead of 200g of butter, I only added 100g of butter. I suspected something was wrong when the dough simply refused to form. So quickly added another 100g.
Secondly, the dough still did not form as I added the 100g of butter when I had already mixed the flour in. The butter should be mixed with the sugar then the flour added in. So instead of a dough, I got a sticky mixture.
Thirdly, the piping bag did not turn out well. I used the grease proof paper to make the piping bag but because the mixture is so sticky it just would not work well. Very difficult to squeeze out the mixture not to mention the amount of mess. Don't think it is the piping bag's fault but I'd just get a proper piping bag and learn to use it in future!!
Fourthly, I forgot to switch my oven back to 'bake' mode. It was in the 'grill' mode (I made black pepper grilled chicken some weeks back!!). Final outcome?? Damn chao tar 'biscuits'.
I was about the throw the remaining sticky mixture away, thinking the sticky mixture is the problem, when I suddenly saw that the oven was in 'grill' mode.
Fortunately my 2nd batch turned out well.
Damn chao tar grilled biscuits.Yucks.
Finally! The shapes are weird because the piping bag did not work well because of the sticky mixture. It should be shaped like a log with chocolate swirl on top. No mood to do the chocolate swirl. Will do it the next time when everything is perfect!!
