House owners?!

Mad day on 31/03/08!

Went to collect my passport in the morning, then our keys from HDB. Went to the new house then rush back to Toa Payoh at night to take our last dose of Hep A and B jab.

Though we collected our keys, we could only call ourselves 'proud house owners' after 5 years; after the loan is fully paid. Currently, we are only 'leasees'!! Crap and pathetic! Pay so much money yet we are not the owners!!

Anyway bought bananas (wealth 财), oranges (prosperity 大吉大利), apples (peace 出入平安) and pineapple (good fortune 旺) for fengshui purpose. We placed the fruits at every corner of the house in each room - living, 3 bedrooms and kitchen. Actually most people only put the fruits in the living room and master bedroom, but we kiasu lah! Haha....So we ended up with 20 apples, 20 oranges and 20 bananas. For the pineapple we bought only one as the purpose of it was to roll it to the middle of the living room once we open the door.

Also had to sprinkle the combination of rice, salt and tea leaves at the corners. This is to ward off 'evil spirits （避邪）' so we sprinkled the bathrooms too! Very kiasu hor?! Well, better to be safe than sorry mah! Got to stay there and be LEASEES for 5 years leh! :P ..Hmm..that had nothing to do with the loan though; it's HDB rule that we cannot sell the flat within 5 years.

After the 'rituals' were performed, we started to check for defects. Inspected the walls, windows, tiles, doors, handles for scratches, holes, cracks, rust etc etc. We went on all fours to knock on every piece of floor tiles with spoons then also had to knock on the wall tiles...hard work man...

We very 'stingy' lah, we wrote down as many defects as we could find, then it's up to HDB to qualify whether it really defective lor! I think that should be the case leh, because we paid so much money for the house ok!! Then only LEASEES somemore!! Haha..:P
